Fattoria di Celle and Gori Collection

Fattoria di Celle is a historic 15th-century complex located in Santomato, just outside Pistoia. In the 19th century, it was transformed into a romantic park by architect Giovanni Gambini: among winding paths, hills, and picturesque views stand a natural lake fed by the Brana stream, a small island with a neoclassical temple, and a striking waterfall carved into the rock.

In the 1950s, entrepreneur and patron Giuliano Gori purchased the estate and began installing works from his contemporary art collection throughout the park. In 1982, the first nine site-specific installations by international artists such as Alice Aycock, Richard Serra, Mauro Staccioli, and Dani Karavan were unveiled. Today, the Gori Collection includes 51 outdoor works perfectly integrated into the landscape.

The park, conceived as an open-air museum immersed in nature, is also a botanical reserve. Visitors enter through an elegant neoclassical gate and a winding avenue designed by Ximenes.

Visits are by appointment only. Info: www.goricoll.it
