Doganaccia – Croce Arcana – Libro Aperto

The Doganaccia – Croce Arcana – Libro Aperto route is a challenging excursion, with a difference in altitude of around 600 meters and a duration of around 5 hours. The route starts from Doganaccia, in the province of Pistoia, and develops along the Alta Via dei Parchi. The first part of the route is slightly uphill, through a beech and fir forest. After about an hour’s walk, you reach the Rifugio La Capannina, where you can take a break.

From here, the route begins to climb more steeply, until it reaches the Croce Arcana, a panoramic point from which you can admire the panorama of Abetone and the Apuan Alps.

From the Croce Arcana, the route continues in the direction of the Libro Aperto, the highest peak of Abetone. The path is rocky at times and requires some attention.

After about 2 hours from the Croce Arcana, you reach the Libro Aperto, a peak characterized by a particular rocky conformation that resembles an open book.
The descent takes place along the same route as the outward journey.
