Événements en Toscane : détails
Du 05 Juillet 2010 au 31 Octobre 2010
Pistoia Underground and Ceppo Museum
Open to the public the Dungeon of Pistoia, the longest underground construction visited Tuscany in Italy and the first fully accessible to disabled non-ambulatory and visually impaired people (there is also a tactile path). The cellar was made in part during the Renaissance to build upon some structures of the hospital strain, covered with barrel vaults, brick, the old course of the stream Brana (then Gora Scornio). Now the basement has been recovered and reclaimed 1,200 meters, of which 650 visited once.
The fourteenth century loggia overlooking the Piazza Giovanni XXIII, embellished by Della Robbia frieze depicting the seven works of charity, for example was built, along with other hospital facilities, over Gora, covered for the occasion in a yet another intervention channel. The river song was in fact diverted from its original channel in the Middle Ages, to urbanize the old Bog east of the city, already hardened in Roman with the diversion of another watercourse, the Tens. With this deviation Brana became the medieval moat along the second ring of walls and then, when they built the walls of the third circle was reduced to ditch for water service within the city by the name of Gora humiliation.
